Band

Intermediate Band

Students in Intermediate Band are primarily second-year band students. Intermediate Band students work out of the Essential Elements for Band Book 1 and 2, published by Hal Leonard.

Each Intermediate Band student receives a weekly 30-minute instrument lesson at their elementary school and attends one weekly after-school rehearsal. The Bryan Area Intermediate Band, which consists of students from Lincoln, Jefferson, and Jefferson, rehearses after school on Tuesdays from 3:30-4:30 at Bryan Middle School.

The small-group instrument lesson allows the teacher to provide individualized instruction and assessment to each student on specific instrumental techniques.

Prep Band

Students in the Prep Band are first-year band students or students who are in their first year of learning a specific woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument. Prep band students use Essential Elements for Band Book 1 published by Hal Leonard.

Each prep band student receives a weekly lesson at their elementary school and attends one weekly after-school ensemble rehearsal.  The Bryan Area Prep Band rehearses after school on Wednesdays (Jackson and Jefferson students) and Thursdays (Lincoln students) from 3:30-4:30 at Bryan Middle School

Small-group lessons provide an opportunity for students to have individualized instruction and assessment on their specific instrument.

The weekly band rehearsal allows students to practice and perform in a large ensemble.

Bryan Concert Band

Concert Band

The Bryan Concert Band is a musical ensemble for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade woodwind, brass, and percussion students with previous playing experience.

Ensemble Rehearsals

Morning concert band rehearsals occur Monday through Friday 7:30-8:15.

Instrument Technique Classes

Each band student attends a weekly small-group instrument technique class. The small-group class allows for instrument-specific instruction and individual assessment. Students are excused from one of their regular class periods on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday to attend an instrument technique class. The technique class schedule rotates weekly so that students will only miss the same period once every six weeks.  Technique class schedules will be available at the beginning of the year.
