Dear Parents/Guardians of 8th grade Bryan students,

It is an exciting time of year for our 8th grade students as we get ready to wish them well on their next chapter--on to high school!   I wanted to communicate some important information to you about the end of year celebrations planned for our 8th grade students.

Promotion Gowns
On Friday, May 20, 2022, we will be distributing the promotion gowns during the school day.  To be picture ready, it is suggested that gowns be taken out of the original packaging prior to the ceremony and hung in order to remove wrinkles.

Boat Trip
On Tuesday, May 24, students will take their “class trip” to Chicago for a boat trip on the Anita Dee II. Thank you to the PTA for helping sponsor this amazing opportunity for our students. Here is the Pushcoin Link for Boat Trip payment. Please complete this form by May 6th.

8th Grade Class Panoramic Photo
Additionally, on Tuesday, May 24, all 8th grade students will take a group class photo. This photo will be available for purchase through Tom Killoran Photography. Students will be receiving envelopes for picture selling options soon.

Clap Out
On Wednesday, May 25th, we will be saying goodbye to our 8th graders by participating in an all school clap out at the end of the regular school day. All 8th grade classes will walk through the building and get a chance to say goodbye to all current staff and students.

8th grade parents are invited to stand outside on the sidewalk in the front of the building starting around 3:15 to celebrate their 8th grader as they make their final march out of Bryan that day. We hope that this is a way to acknowledge and celebrate the work of our entire staff in helping our students prepare for high school!

Promotion Practice and PTA Picnic
On Thursday, May 26, students will participate in promotion practice activities at Bryan Middle School.

In the early afternoon, 8th grade students will celebrate again with the PTA sponsored luncheon at BMS. Students are dismissed at 11:30 directly after the picnic.

Fines
Students will need to have all fines cleared up in order to obtain their diploma on the evening of promotion.  Please be sure to check with your student about school fees, lunch dues, books, heart rate monitors, Chromebook chargers, and textbooks, prior to promotion in order for your student to receive their diploma.

BMS Promotion Ceremony Information
We are excited to host our promotion ceremonies for 8th grade students at York High School on Thursday, May 26, 2022!

Arrival Time: Students should arrive between 5:15 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. and parents will be allowed in the gym at York no earlier than 5:30 p.m.

Dismissal: After graduation, please meet your student in the York Commons. Please remember that since Churchville’s promotion ceremony starts at 8:00, we ask that all Bryan parents leave York no later than 7:15. Thank you for your cooperation on this special day for all of our middle school students.

Dress: All students should wear their graduation gowns. Additionally, dress clothes are recommended to be worn under the gown as are comfortable dress shoes due to varying gown lengths.  Bryan students should take pride in their appearance, and dress in such a way that is a positive representative of our school.

Tickets and Seating: No tickets are required.  However, if you require reserved seating for a medical purpose, please fill out this form no later than Friday, May 20th. We will send your reserved tickets home with your student after promotion practice on Thursday, May 26th. You must have your tickets to sit in the reserved section. Please remember to explain this policy to your guests.

Other Information: We ask that families do not bring balloons to the ceremony at York so it does not interfere with anyone’s viewing during the ceremony.  Further, parents and visitors should not bring any bells, horns, or other noisemakers which would draw attention away from the event. Please discuss this policy with your guests.

Lastly, but perhaps most importantly, we want our 8th grade students to end on a positive note this year. We will continue to remind them about the 3Bs at Bryan. We want all of our students to be respectful, to be responsible, and to be safe. We ask that you remind your 8th grade student that these expectations are especially important on the home stretch of the year. We want our students to be able to participate in all of the special activities planned, and we expect that they finish the year strong!

Feel free to contact us if you have any additional questions.  We look forward to celebrating with you this month!

Respectfully,
