Promotion Updates
We are excited to see our families for our promotion promenade scheduled for Thursday, May 27th. All promotion information that was sent out so far is posted on our website under Promotion Information 20-21. There will be a final promotion communication shared on Monday.

As a reminder, here are the groupings for promotion.

  • 4:15-4:45: Group 1: RED Group: Baumeister, Samp

  • 5:00-5:30: Group 2: WHITE Group: Mangun, Johnson, Felde

  • 5:45-6:15: Group 3: BLUE Group: Curran, Szafranski, Sweeney/Nunes

Remote Student Information
Here is the communication shared with all remote families from earlier in the week. All remote students are invited to attend the last day of school with their classmates if they choose. All 8th grade remote students are invited to participate in the promotion promenade.

Technology Returns
Grade level teams will be collecting all technology from students during the last week of school. Students will need to turn in their Chromebooks, stylus, cases, and chargers.

It was brought to our attention that there has been some confusion around learning device hand-in expectations for 8th grade students. To clarify, ALL 8th grade students are expected to turn in their learning device before summer break. If an 8th grade student will participate in a D205 sponsored summer learning program, they are permitted to keep their device to support that program, after it is checked in with their class.

If Your Student Has Already Been Vaccinated
Once your student is fully vaccinated (after the second dose), we ask that you send a copy of the vaccination record to your child’s school nurse so that it can be included with the student’s health records and accessed by authorized school personnel in the event of a COVID-19 case, to avoid placing vaccinated students on quarantine, even if they are a ‘close contact.’ You can email a copy of the vaccine card to Mari Jo Hecker at mhecker@elmhurst205.org.

Residency Verification
All current 8th grade families promoting to York High School next year and families with expired leases/special residencies need to verify their residency before the 21-22 school year. Please reference the RESIDENCY VERIFICATION FORM 21-22. Please bring all required documents to the Bryan Main Office Monday through Friday 9:00am - 3:00pm. There will be more information from the District regarding other opportunities over the summer to prove residency before next school year.

Medication Pick Up Before Summer Break
If your student has medication in the Health office, please make arrangements to pick it up prior to the last day of school on May 28th.
No medication can remain in the Health office during the summer.

Water Bottles for School
With the warmer weather we are having, it is important that your student bring a water bottle to school daily. We have water bottle refilling stations in the school.

BMS Main Office Summer Hours

  • Closed June 9th until August.

2021-2022 School Year-Locker Day-Wednesday, August 18, 2021
Please note that the first day of school for students will be a Locker Day on Wednesday, August 18th. 6th grade students and families will be invited during designated time slots in the morning. 7th and 8th grade families will be invited during designated time slots in the afternoon. More information will be shared in upcoming newsletters. Classes will proceed on a normal schedule on Thursday, August 19th.

REACH Summer Bridge
REACH Summer Bridge courses for math will be offered to those students who are new to the REACH math program next school year. Courses will be completed online with virtual teacher office hours. Summer Bridge will take place June 14-July 23 and information will be sent to parents at the end of May.

New to REACH Informational Night (K-8)
There will be an informational meeting for all new to REACH families on June 3rd at 7:00pm. This will be a zoom meeting, please see the REACH website for the zoom link. There will also be a meeting on August 23rd with the same information for those families that cannot attend in June.

Last Chance for Yearbooks
As the 2020-2021 school year comes to an end, I would like to remind any parents who have not yet purchased a yearbook to go to yearbookforever.com to purchase one. There are only 30 copies left available for purchase! As a reminder yearbooks will be distributed in the Fall. If you have any questions, please contact bstanford@elmhurst205.org

Traffic after School at Bryan
Please continue to be patient during pick up and drop off times. We are a big school and everyone is trying to leave safely! Parents, we ask that you do NOT park in the gravel lot near the bus lane in order to ensure the safety of our students crossing the street. We also ask that you line up on the west side of Euclid and on the south side of Van Buren so that students do not need to cross the street.
