Elmhurst, IL - District 205 proudly announces that 30 middle school students and 50 York High School students have been invited to participate in the Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA) District 1 Junior and Senior Festivals. This honor showcases their hard work, talent, and dedication to music, as well as the support and guidance from their music educators who promote excellence in music education.
Thirty middle school students have received a total of 31 invitations to perform at either the ILMEA District 1 Junior Festival on Saturday, November 23, or the Jazz Festival on Saturday, November 16, with one student earning the rare distinction of performing at both events. This level of participation is the highest achievement middle school students can attain within the ILMEA framework, marking a significant milestone.
At the high school level, 50 York students have been invited to perform or performed at the ILMEA District 1 Senior Festival on Saturday, November 9, or the Jazz Festival on November 16. These high school students now have the exciting opportunity to advance further and be eligible for the ILMEA All-State Festival in January, where they may be recognized on an even larger stage for their musical talent and dedication.
ILMEA is the largest state music education association in Illinois, dedicated to advancing music education at every level. The association ensures that all students and educators feel represented and valued, fostering a sense of belonging and pride within the music community.
