Press Release

Elmhurst, IL – The Elmhurst District 205 Board of Education has approved the appointment of Joseph Blomquist as the next Assistant Superintendent of Finance & Operations/Chief School Business Official (CSBO).

With District 205’s commitment to attracting and retaining exceptional talent, a comprehensive and inclusive hiring process was conducted to identify a highly qualified candidate for this critical leadership role. The District’s strategic plan includes a core objective of maintaining long-term financial sustainability while ensuring operational excellence across all schools. The Assistant Superintendent of Finance & Operations is charged with helping to meet and exceed that objective.

The search process was thorough and collaborative and the interview process included engagement from District administration, the Finance Department, school leaders, Board of Education members, and Union Leadership. After screening dozens of applications, six applicants were selected for first-round interviews. From that group, two finalists were invited back for the final round.

Candidates participated in a rigorous performance task, requiring them to present their strategies for achieving long-term financial health while supporting a culture of excellence throughout the organization. Final interviews followed, along with reference and background checks to determine the candidate best suited for this critical leadership role.

“Joe Blomquist brings a balance of strong financial expertise and a student-centered mindset to this role,” said Superintendent Dr. Keisha Campbell. “He impressed us with his thoughtful approach, deep knowledge of school business operations, and commitment to fostering collaboration across departments in alignment with our District Vision and Mission. We are thrilled to welcome him to the Elmhurst 205 leadership team.”

Blomquist currently serves as the Director of Business Services in Lake Zurich Unit District 95 and previously held the same role in Yorkville Community Unit School District 115. His deep expertise in school finance spans every facet of fiscal management—including district budgeting, audit oversight, payroll, investments, and the development of internal control procedures. He also brings valuable experience from the classroom, working as an instrumental music teacher for 15 years and also serving as union president for the St. Charles Education Association for seven years. This unique blend of operational leadership and frontline educational experience gives him a well-rounded perspective and a deep appreciation for the diverse needs of a school community.

“I am honored to join Elmhurst District 205 and look forward to contributing to its continued success,” said Blomquist. “Throughout the interview process, I was impressed by the professionalism, passion, and commitment of the D205 team. I’m excited to get started and to work alongside such dedicated educators and staff to ensure our students have access to the best possible learning environments.”

Blomquist will officially begin his role on July 1, 2025, and will participate in a multi-day onboarding process prior to his start date. This will include collaboration with district leadership, time in school attendance centers, and planning alongside department heads to ensure a strong and seamless transition into the role.
